Intel Amenity Plaza, Co. Kildare

The overall concept of the Intel Amenity Plaza’s design was inspired by the aesthetic of the manufacturer’s trademark ‘Wafer Chip’ technology.
Production takes place within the campus and is physically linked to other areas by carefully orientated footways and cycle paths in a linear park, reproducing the aesthetic of a circuit board.

The proposal incorporates a bike parking facility and a coffee dock influenced by Intel’s products and designed to integrate seamlessly into the site, while also creating a feature landmark within the campus.

One of the main elements of our proposal is encouraging sustainable modes of transportation. The bike parking facility is built using a lightweight steel structure clad in Corten steel, which is etched and perforated in a circuit board design displaying the Intel chip and logo at the main entrance. Using perforated Corten creates a site feature, and the transparency element softens its impact.

The structure is enclosed by a high-level circular ‘green roof’ canopy supported by fine cylindrical columns. The sedum roof will also house photovoltaic panels to power lighting and bike and scooter charging points. The bike parking facility stores up to 160 bikes or scooters arranged in a two-tiered, gas-assisted bike rack and features repair stations.

The feeling of a linear park continues in several areas linked to the bike storage facility. To the West, users will find a tiered stone seating area surrounding a water feature enclosed by ornamental plants. The water feature consists of a circular reflecting pool with a stainless-steel disk.

To the East, there are several landscaped seating areas featuring paths that connect the car park and the bus stop to many points on the campus. Ornamental grass, planting, and trees create a contemporary landscaped aesthetic.

Our team has chosen hardstanding materials to facilitate route access while also creating a high-quality environment for the user. The cycle path, outlined in red asphalt, runs parallel to the park and brings this green boulevard together.
